Your Puppy: Have fun fixing the "mischief Factor"
I sat trapped in the plane at full speed toward Orlando, tied to my seat, 30,000 feet above the ground. I say "caught" because my seat, my entire row even was shaken constantly beaten and thrown a couple of blond hair, angelic looking little monsters in the row in front of me.
Michael, twelve, and his brother, eight, found relief from boredom in the only way they knew ... by fighting, wrestling and disturbing all three rows in all directions.
At first, I was also irritated by the idiots blonde. But as his father finally erupted from his chair to threaten children with injury, I began to smile. Almost laughed, actually. Not because the kids were finally getting a stern talking to. But because the image that came to me.
Suddenly, the kids reminded me of a couple of blondes golden retriever, happy, noisy ... and completely out of control. Michael and David, in the absence of any direction his parents, default behaviors known on that flight. They "broke from the ground up."

The boys broke like puppies in that bag of Gold in a foie gras stuffed Kong. The bags of pretzels, disposable cameras, coloring books and letters that flowed horn of plenty of childish things like a geyser Old Faithful.
This was a good thing.
Mind you, they were still children.
"Are we there yet?"
"How many minutes is too much?"
Questions and protest still provided an opportunity for children as well, guys. But the worst was over chaos.
I have this strange tendency see dog training as a metaphor for life itself. Not much in the way of human behavior escapes any direct correlation with the dogs in my opinion. So I thought Michael and David and why it reminds me so much about puppies. Then I realized.
Dad came and told them not to do. And that's not has operated for more than a few minutes. Mom had a better idea. She showed the children a new behavior they could do, while presenting with a consequence, if not to elect the new, more rewarding behavior that he designed for them.
The parallel to our life comes when dogs and puppies to help stop the unwanted behavior. It is effective to teach a dog a new behavior that is incompatible with the unwanted behavior. It is less effective simply correct a dog for doing wrong.
Take jumping on people. You can just right for them. But the temptation remains. In addition, get with the 21st century now. We have dogs of the "warm and Fuzzies." We are increasingly less likely that your dog out of the knee when the dog just wants to welcome us. So instead of fighting dog, why not teach him to sit and give paw seek care? He can not do that and now he can go? Furthermore, it is a trick so attractive that is likely to win much notice to the dog, and therefore becomes self-fulfilling.
Dick Russell professional dog trainer in Louisiana, says he teaches the same "sit and give paw" routine to save space dogs. A dog often will not sit and shake and protect the space of a child all at the same time. I deal with this problem differently. Using a soft touch on a leash and collar, I teach the dog to move, and waive any human space want to take. Either way, you have taught the dog what to do as much as what NOT to do.
As for Michael and David, playing with their new toys for a while. Eyeballed them regularly, however, hoping to reassert the old behavior. Smile, thinking about dog training equipment located in checked baggage. If I could have children, they could all retire to my own private island where dogs run free and children behave.
