Choosing a dog collar
First you need to watch your pet's behavior before deciding which style of dog collar to buy.
The dog collar market has a host of dog collars, from normal to very specialized. Before deciding what type of collar to buy what need to know what each one does and what is good for dogs.
Dog Collar Types and Uses
To ensure that you are using the collar as a means of better training for your dog, you should seek the advice of a professional dog trainer.
The buckle on the collar has a ring so that you can place the license City dog tags and other identification. If your dog is lost accidentally, the collar and tags attached will help you return home.
If you do not like sound of jingling dog tags or worry that the labels metal will discolor the skin of your dog, then you can use a special tag pouch, available in most pet stores.
A muzzle is basically a mesh cup that slides completely over the mouth of his best friend and nose. It is attached your pet's head with a strap behind the ears.
A head collar is not the same a muzzle! A regular collar encourages your dog to pull against pressure in the neck. A head collar is the opposite, but exerts a constant and firm pressure over the neck of your pet's neck.
This mimics the behavior of a mother dog who is disciplining her puppies. round light pressure of the muzzle and neck skin is a prison behavior that your dog can understand instinctively human exploitation of the belt.
Initial training using a head collar should be done under the supervision of a qualified coach, though a head collar is considered more humane than a pinch or slip collar.
The action of the leash when correcting your best friend is very different with a head collar verses any of the training devices. So it's important to get proper instructions on its use of a qualified coach. While with a head collar, your dog can still pant, bark, drink and eat, even bite.
While some trainers will use flat buckle collars type, especially in puppies, these collars do not always provide ideal control for more unruly dogs.
Drowning metal link chain are the chain of various sizes with a ring on each. These collars should only be used while actively training or walking your dog. This type of collar is usually sold by length, so ask for assistance when buying a slip collar.
Used by many people to control hard to handle dogs, the plug or pinch the neck is flat on the neck of your dog until you need to give some correction or pulling the belt. The pressure of the belt will cause the metal teeth strong to pull the collar of his dog.
There's even a fancy collar that can be useful for an old dog. Have you seen those spiked collars that addresses like a dog punk rock star? If you get a dog his age of those who will not hurt. In fact, it can serve as the best of his friend for the protection of dogs larger and more aggressive. Or overly boisterous young dog.
Dog Collar Tips
Finally choose a pet collar suits your dogs personality and size. A giant black leather collar with studs not conform to a toy poodle, or a pink collar style of the film The British Bulldog. After all, image is part of the dogs so choose a dog collar that fits!
With all the strings of a proper fit is vital. necklaces slip should be loose enough so you can easily fit two fingers between the neck and the neck of the pet. Prong / pinch collars, slip / choke collars, head halters and harnesses should be fitted with the help of someone who is experienced in its use.
The incorrect installation of one of these necklaces will result a misuse and may cause pain and discomfort of your pet. Please note that the sales clerk at the pet store is usually qualified to adapt to these necklaces.

What kind of collars / halters are best for pulling dogs HEAVY?
I have a pitbull terrier 6 month old who weighs 40 pounds and now can not make it stop pulling me to walk! 1) I have tried a prong collar after my boyfriend suggested, your neck is sensitive and dry skin becomes easily, I have also afraid that I will not hurt a young age if I pull too hard. 2) I tried the easy walk harness-Premier does not seem too affected by it because she is so strong. 3) And finally, just a halter definitely got a ring behind the shoulders on the upper back to hold the belt on, who does a damn thing! Any suggestions? I was thinking Sporn Mesh halter that goes under the front legs to drag the hind legs if they withdrew. Has anyone tried this on a strong dog? HELP! Thanks!
The strip cause of unity in the hind legs. Try using a plain collar and leash of age. Run the strap through the back and dropped on the left just in front of his hind legs. Holding the strap in the race to the bottom end of the strap under the belly and back around through the belt to be held in the upper back. Trust me it works!
